When you delete something it reclaims that space allowing it to overwrite the information there.

The most important thing to know is turn your computer of and leave it off until you get a repairman out to recover the lost data.
Every time you turn your computer on it uses up space in the memory.
The more you use your computer the more likely it is to overwrite the lost data and the harder it will be to recover. In extreme cases making it irretrievable!
